This workshop (worth 8 CPD hours) will focus on the nutritional needs of the dancer and the role of dietary intake in optimal training and performance. Participants will be provided with an overview of the macro and micronutrients which contribute to a balanced diet and have the chance to explore ideas for implementation. Disordered eating, signs, symptoms, risk factors and prevalence in dance will also be addressed.
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and utilise the interactive group discussions to develop and share ideas on how to disseminate new found knowledge and understanding with students in a dance education setting.
The aims of this workshop are to:
Explore the nutritional needs of the dancer/dance teacher at various stages of training, performing and practice.
Enhance understanding of the energy demands of the dancer.
Offer practically applicable advice for supporting dancers in achieving optimal nutrition.
Guide participants through exploration of ways to implement dissemination of nutritional guidance in the dance teaching setting.
Enhance understanding of disordered eating in the dance population.
On completion of the workshop you will:

Increase your awareness of disordered eating, risk factors for dancers, and recognising signs and symptoms.
Feel better equipped to introduce positive nutritional messages within the dance school setting.
