Description

Introduction:

We know that Health and Social Care systems across the country are under increasing pressure with the NHS facing a slowdown in spending growth in recent years, and local authorities experiencing unprecedented budget cuts. Against this backdrop, the population is ageing, and there is an increasing demand for services, as well as an increase in the complexity of this demand. Financial constraints do not allow for an expansion of existing provision to meet increasing demand.

Alongside this, we also know that the vast majority of people would prefer to continue to live independently in their own homes, but require support to enable them to do so.

Technological solutions have a significant role to play in supporting people to meet their outcomes more effectively, at a time of reducing resources.

The purpose of this event is to enable participants to:

  • Review a broad range of technological solutions that exist in the market that promote prevention and early intervention and independent living, support the self-care, and self-directed care agendas, and enable people to stay connected with their communities,
  • Gain some insight into how such technological solutions have been used in practice in different settings and the benefits that have been realised for different people,
  • Talk to others about how such technological solutions have become a core part of the Social Care offer, both in the short and long term, how this was achieved in practice and how this might be achieved at scale.

We want to attract as many different groups and individuals as possible to this event, from Local Authorities, to Clinical Commissioning Groups, Housing Providers, Voluntary Sector Organisations and those who work in Health and Social Care in the Independent Sector, including providers of Health and Social Care services.

We will also be inviting a range of suppliers of technological solutions who have either a track record of providing an operationalised product that has positively impacted citizens, or a new innovation that we would be interested to learn more about. Suppliers will be available throughout the day to share information about their products and how they have been used or could be used in practice.

The event will provide an opportunity to:

  • Increase awareness of technological solutions across four themes:
    • Prevention, and Early Intervention
    • Independent Living
    • Connecting to the Community
    • Directing your own care
  • Engage with suppliers, through elevator pitches, and market stalls, to discuss their products and how they might benefit you
  • Hear key note addresses from people with knowledge, experience and a keen interest in the role of Assistive Technology in maximising independence
  • Work with your colleagues to address challenges in relation to implementing and embedding Assistive Technology within your organisations
  • Network, enjoy the day, and to take something practical away

The event will be interactive and will have an emphasis on practical solutions rather than theoretical concepts.

We would be delighted to welcome you on the day. All we ask in return is that you will be prepared to engage, participate, explore, and importantly to take away practical learning and do something with it. This includes exploring opportunities to work collaboratively, and signing up to opportunities that may arise.

These events are highly sought after and often oversubscribed. Non-attendance - while we appreciate that circumstances can sometimes require you to cancel at the last minute, we kindly ask that you only book onto the event if you fully intend to attend. If you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible, to allow us to offer the place to others.

Please note that if we are not informed of your unavailability to attend prior to the event, this will result in a £50 + VAT charge.

Kind regards,
