The Oxford Club of Constructing Excellence is pleased to invite you to the twelfth event of our 2015 calander. In conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Building you are cordially invited to hear lead developer A2Dominion and sustainability charity Bioregional present an update on NW Bicester, the UK's first Eco Town.
NW Bicester is one of the most exciting developments underway in the county if not the country.
The first phase of this 6,000 home masterplan known as the Exemplar (and now on sale as Elmsbrook) comprises of 393 true zero carbon homes and a local centre with a primary school, eco business centre and other amenities, building a vibrant and resilient community that is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.
What makes this development unique is its eco credentials as the only development in the UK built to Planning Policy Statement 1 for Eco Towns, which positions it as the largest most sustainable development in the country. Work started on the first phase in March 2014 with sales commencing in June 2015 and the Master Plan for the site will guide development over the next 20 years and beyond and aims to ensure the development is integrated with the town and continues to achieve the high sustainability standards required for an eco town, as well as providing a great place to live and work.
This NW Bicester update will address:
- Masterplan overview and review of the Exemplar Phase: how this has been constructed and lessons learned.
- Review of the design standards and findings
- Sustainable transport and opportunity to test drive electric vehicles.
