Join ISEP North West England for an in-person in Salford, Manchester: ISEP Careers – which path to take?
This session for Salford/Manchester based University students will give some insight into what environment and sustainability careers and career paths are available post education and that learning never stops.

Speakers
David Hoare, Technical Director, RSK
Bio
David is a Technical Director with RSK with over 24 years’ experience in the environment sector, 23 of which have been spent in environmental consultancy.
His main experience relates to the environmental assessment and management of a wide range of projects including energy, road infrastructure projects (motorway, smart motorway, trunk road and local authority road schemes in Wales, England and Scotland), residential/mixed-use developments, pipelines and gas storage facilities.
As a Chartered Environmentalist, David has demonstrated an excellent level of EIA and planning knowledge, with particular areas of expertise in Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects; project management of small, medium and large scale EIAs; bid management; providing pragmatic advice to clients on environmental issues and opportunities; working closely with clients and statutory/non-statutory organisations; managing and motivating multidisciplinary teams and undertaking stakeholder consultation.
David is currently co-chair of ISEP's North West Global Network Group and is also a former chair of ISEP’s Impact Assessment Steering Group.
Carmel Campbell – Director B – Sustainable
Bio
Carmel is the Director of Be Sustainable Limited and has 23 years of experience in Corporate Sustainability and Environment working in both in-house and client-facing roles. She has a proven track record in delivering high-quality, practical solutions to multi-site, national and international clients. Particular areas of expertise include: Sustainability Strategy development and roll out including materiality analysis; ESG reporting and verification; GHG Reporting and verification (inc. PAS2060); IMS development and internal auditing. Carmel is a Lead Auditor for EMS and QMS and a Lead ESG verifier. She is also an approved ISEP environmental and sustainability course tutor as well as an IRCA tutor for quality and environmental Lead auditor courses.
Claire Brown – Senior Sustainability Consultant – Turner & Townsend.
Bio
Claire Brown is a Senior Sustainability Consultant at Turner & Townsend and a PhD Researcher at the Tyndall Centre for Climate change at the University of Manchester. Her PhD research work focuses on addressing issues around heating and cooling demand in social housing in the UK. She has over 18 years of experience in industry, third, public and private sectors. She is looking at how new-build social housing could be a potential way to reduce demand on the power grid through better design and exploring further opportunities for self-generation. Exploring how commercially viable solutions might exist to allow social housing to be built with high energy performance built-in. She has previously worked in the construction industry as a Sustainability Manager, in the public sector as an Energy manager and as a Senior Consultant. She also has an interest in management systems and how these can play a part in improving environmental performance across businesses, particularly around the integration of ISO14001.
Sarah Nurton – Social Impact Manager, wienerberger
Bio
Sarah has over 15 years' experience working in the charity sector, in marketing communications and fundraising roles. She now works in the field of social value with previous experience at Transport for Greater Manchester. Her current role as Social Impact Manager for Wienerberger, the world’s largest producer of bricks and clay pavers. She manages their CSR programmes including charitable giving, volunteering, STEM Ambassadors and product donations.
