• To be able to explain why families are an important safeguarding partner
• Explore in detail the impact that abuse by exploitation can have on the family and what they need from professionals to enable them to become a safeguarding partner
• Identify barriers to families being safeguarding partners and describe ways to overcome them
• Understand the current context and latest research in this area
• Consider how to prioritise a families recovery
• Develop a personalised action plan to promote families as safeguarding partners

What You’ll Learn

This course is about turning insight into action. Together, bringing to the training our own learning, knowledge and experience, we will explore:

Developing a culture of working alongside parents/carers as safeguarding partners

The ripple effects of exploitation—not just on the individual, but on the whole family.

What families need to feel supported, empowered, and included as safeguarding partners.

The barriers—from both the family’s and the practitioner’s perspectives—that can get in the way

Taking the learning from the latest reports and research principles into your daily work whether your role is strategic or operational—so that collaboration and partnership with families becomes not just a goal, but a reality.

This training is a chance to reflect, connect, and grow in how we support, enable and empower families affected by exploitation—and how we listen to them. Because when families are truly heard, safeguarding becomes stronger for everyone.

People working directly with families or overseeing people working directly with families. Including operational and strategic staff. Adult and children’s social care; Police; youth workers; voluntary and community sector
