The session is beneficial to anyone working within safeguarding and child exploitation including teachers, Social Care teams, police, health practitioners and the third sector.
During this session, delegates will develop approaches to working with older children in preparation for transition into adulthood.
We will discuss and consider how perceptions of adolescents can impact our practice and services.
The training will support understanding and the implementation of relevant legislation and practice guidance surrounding transition.
Delegates will be provided with guidance on planning for transition and bridging the gap between Adult and Children’s Services, as well as working with child exploitation victims into adulthood.
This session will be delivered online by NWG’s Education and Transition Lead, Steve Baguley who is incredibly passionate about bridging the gap between children's and adult services to best support vulnerable young people and adults.
By the end of the session, delegates will be able to;
- Explore and explain the concept of ‘transition’ and what it means to practice and strategic planning.
- Understand what informs the current focus on transitional safeguarding.
- Outline the key areas to consider when implementing transitional safeguarding policy and procedures.
- Define what good transition looks like.
- Translate knowledge to the development and application of effective transitional safeguarding strategies.
Feedback from previous sessions:
I'll be able to bring this into sessions with professionals to inform practice and a multi-agency approach to protecting children and young people. I will now have a focus on how aware partners are around adolescent development
Really good and informative session. Lots to think about in regards to the service development.
