TOPICS with in depth analysis of:

CORRELATION: understand the different types of correlation in catastrophe models and dig into one of the most important but least understood elements – the correlation of uncertainty, which has a major impact on loss results and is treated very differently in different catastrophe models.

MODEL CALIBRATION: hear from current and ex model developers the reality of calibrating catastrophe models, the choices that are made and what happens when the model components are all brought together

TAIL EVENTS: See some examples of investigations into tail events for different perils, such as earthquake, windstorm, flood. Learn how to assess if they are realistic or not, and how to question this element of cat models yourself.
Using climate models to increase our understanding of the risk, using the example of U.S. hurricane. Hear about the latest scientific understanding of what we do and don’t know about the recent drought in hurricane landfalls, is it really luck or are there physical drivers, and engage in a discussion on how we can use climate models to understand this more.

FLOOD MODELLING: Learn more about the fundamental differences used in the market to build flood models and the pros and cons of each. Demystify the jargon surrounding modelling and understand what truly is “state of the art”. Learn about the sources of uncertainty which impact final loss results the most.

VULNERABILITY: understand the process of developing vulnerability curves using an engineering based approach versus a claims-data approach, and how they compare in terms of end results. Understand what happens in cat modelling companies in the final calibration of vulnerability curves, and what happens when no loss data is available.

FINANCIAL MODELS: get an independent view on the differences in financial loss modelling engines between OASIS and other platforms, why it matters and the impact on different re/insurance structures.

BUILD YOUR OWN CAT MODELS: Learn about how to build and deploy your own cat models on OASIS using internal and external data from a real-life example, how one company is now doing this for their primary view of risk and planning to make them available to others.

IMPLEMENTING OASIS: get hands on information about the technicalities of implementing OASIS in your organisation, the different deployment options and deploying your own models. Hear from the OASIS technical team and members about what how to do it, and what tools are available to help.

GETTING THE MOST OF OASIS MEMBERSHIP: Understand how different members are deploying and using OASIS, the challenges they had to solve and the benefits they are getting. Talk with developers of models being deployed on the OASIS platform. Get the latest update on available models and model pipeline.
