Event description
A two hour practitioner workshop exploring recovery and 'coming home'

About this Event

Vox Liminis offer this unique opportunity to experience Oblivion and Beyond: an interactive workshop exploring recovery and desistance.

We invite frontline practitioners, including social workers, support workers and other professionals who work with people in recovery or ‘coming home’ from the criminal justice system to join this exploration of desistance and recovery in a creative environment.

Facilitated by Vox Liminis staff and featuring live performances of songs from the soon-to-be-released ‘Oblivion and Beyond’ EP, the workshop will spark new conversations, insights and highlight existing practices to share with others in Highland and beyond. It promises to be an illuminating and uplifting experience!

We anticipate that participants will gain:

• A unique insight of recovery from people with first-hand experience

• A deepened understanding of recovery and desistance approaches

• An opportunity to creatively reflect upon learning and the relevance to your own role

• An opportunity to recognise the supportive practice in Highland for people in recovery and desistance.

We invite you to join us!

If you have any queries, contact Sharon Holloway on 07815694338 or Lynn Millar on 01463 644 791.

This event is free and non-ticketed.

An additional workshop will be held later in the year. Date and venue TBC.

Background:

Vox Liminis is an arts and community organisation working with people involved in all parts of the criminal justice system – including individuals who are directly affected, families, practitioners, and the wider public - to spark fresh conversations and insights that enable positive change in how we deal with crime and punishment in our society.

Over the last two years Vox Liminis has been working with local partners in Highland, as part of the Distant Voices partnership project. We are working with Highland Alcohol and Drug Partnership and local partners to support community approaches to reducing alcohol and drug related harm – including by engaging the local public in conversations about recovery and reintegration, to better understand the complexities of the recovery journey, decrease stigma and support reintegration.

Distant Voices is run in partnership between the University of Glasgow, University of Edinburgh, University of West of Scotland, and Vox Liminis. Funding for this project comes from the Economic and Social Sciences Research Council, the Art and Humanities Research Council (ES/P002536/1).
