Overview /Sypnosis

Documentary portrait of the gay and lesbian underground in Cameroon

Born This Way steps outside the genre of activist filmmaking and offers a vivid and poetic portrait of day-to-day life in modern Africa. Lyrical imagery, devastating homophobia, the influence of western culture and a hidden-camera courtroom drama mysteriously coalesce into a story of what is possible in the global fight for equality.

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Changes to Visitor Parking

Please be aware that the University will be introducing a new parking permit system, including a new visitor parking booking system, in the near future,. More information about the new parking policy is available here.

Clerici Refurbishment

The Clerici refurbishment project is underway. During the project it is necessary to reduce the car parking capacity at Gipsy Lane (Headington) site to ensure the safety of students, staff and visitors during the construction period. Parking attendants will be on hand to direct visitors to the designated visitor parking to the front of the Gipsy Lane car park area.

Disabled visitors and staff will continue to be permitted to park on site and there will be a designated accessible parking area to the front of Gipsy Lane car park and Gibbs building.

We apologise for any inconvenience and where possible, we would ask all staff and visitors to use public parking and transport.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

No food is allowed in the JHB Lecture Theatre, though we have 10% off vouchers for Cafe Central (open until 8pm). These will be given at the door on arrival when you show your ticket.

After the event:

You are welcome to join us for a drink and social discussion at the Brookes Union Bar.

Please be advised that photographs will be taken at the event for use on the OBUDOC website and in the press, OBUDOC marketing materials, and other university publications. By entering this event, you consent to the University photographing and using your image and likeness.
