Supporting some of the most vulnerable and marginalised adults in Leeds.
St George's Crypt, working in partnership with Leeds Beckett, NHS Leeds South and East CCG and Leeds Community Foundation, is developing a pilot scheme focused on the delivery of occupational therapy to the homeless population of Leeds.
We are hoping to show that by delivering clinical services at the main point of client service access we can improve health and wellbeing by intervening before non-threatening ailments degrade into serious conditions requiring costly medical intervention.
By raising awareness, improving signposting and offering support to attend primary care appointments as well as developing individual's own health and well-being aspirations we hope to improve the general health of our population. We see this as invaluable to the sustainability of positive lifestyles within our service user group.
We are working very closely with Leeds Beckett University to both provide a financial cost benefit analysis and an end of pilot evaluation taking the financial report and the service statistics gathered by our OT to build a case for the long-term provision of the service.
We truly believe that this model will help our service users live healthier and more socially fulfilled lives due to the ease of principle access and the consistency of support throughout their time with us.
We are also hoping that the other grant recipients will be able to attend so we can push, as a city, the great work of the third sector and the importance of a thriving citywide partnership between third sector organisations, the NHS, other statutory bodies and the academic institutions of leeds.
We will be providing a buffet lunch, teas and coffees.
