We're offering students the opportunity to enjoy this spectacular documentary from the world’s leading natural historian. David Attenborough draws on a lifetime of knowledge to reveal the urgent threats the Earth’s vast, interconnected oceans are facing and how they can be restored. Ocean was made by Silverback Films and Open Planet Studios in collaboration with several partners including National Geographic Pristine Seas, who acted as scientific advisors, co-producers and part funders of the production. One of our staff, Dr Keiron Fraser, works as an Expedition Leader and advisor, with the National Geographic Pristine Seas project and was delighted to be able to obtain permission to show Ocean to our students. Since 2008, Pristine Seas has helped establish 30 of the largest marine protected areas in the world, covering a total area of 6.9 million square kilometres — more than twice the size of India. The Pristine Seas project uses a combination of science, storytelling, education and conservation economics to support countries in developing robust Marine Protected Areas.
