Join us for our October Legacy Loop session. When we will be joined by Dr Claire Routley.

Many people express an interest in leaving a gift in their will, but only a small proportion ever take that important next step. How do we, as fundraisers, bridge the gap between interest and action?

In this thought-provoking session, Dr Claire Routley will draw on over twenty years of experience in fundraising and research into customer journeys and legacy supporter behaviour. Together, we’ll explore:

  • What the evidence tells us about why people take action
  • Practical strategies to support and inspire supporters to move from intention to commitment
  • Examples of how charities have successfully nurtured gifts in wills supporters to drive action

Whether you’re new to legacy fundraising or looking to refine your approach, this session will give you fresh insights and actionable ideas to increase the number of supporters who turn good intentions into lasting impact.

Claire has worked in fundraising for over twenty years, for charities large and small. In 2011, she completed a PhD looking at why people choose to leave charitable legacies. She is now consultancy director at Legacy Futures and a tutor for the Chartered Institute of Fundraising’s qualification courses. She is also a member of Rogare’s international advisory panel. She continues with legacy fundraising research and was named AFP’s emerging scholar 2017.
