Event description
Full Day Creative Experience at White Rock Glass Studio creating a bespoke piece of fused glass, inspired by the ancient language of Ogham.

About this event

Join Tracey Mc Verry at her ancestral home and glass studio nestled in the rolling hills of South Armagh. With Tracey as your tutor and host you will explore the extraordinary medium of fused glass whilst creating your own glass OGHAM artwork.

Ogham is an ancient Celtic alphabet used as a way finding tool which was found primarily on native trees and standing stones throughout the island of Ireland, dating back to pre Christian times.

Watch Tracey as she takes you through this exciting creative process, step by step, guiding you while you design, cut and assemble cold glass prior to firing in the kiln.

Translate your chosen English word into the Irish language, transforming it then into Ogham letting your text inspire your glasswork in colour, shape and meaning.

Come and create a piece individual to you which will be framed and delivered to you after your session.

Enjoy a traditional wholesome lunch and refreshments in Tracey's 200yr old ancestral family home.

Please wear comfortable clothing and closed toe footwear

Organiser Tracey Mc Verry

Organiser of OCTOBER Fused Glass OGHAM Experience with Artist, Tracey Mc Verry

Tracey Mc Verry is a professional artist of 20 years.  Her work focuses on fused and cast glass in a sculptural context, incorporating it into her public art practice and small scale sculptural craft. Tracey’s work is heavily inspired by her natural and personal surroundings of South Armagh and the unique geological aspects of the Ring of Gullion. Her work has a personal narrative attached to people and place of her native homeland. Tracey also works extensively as an arts facilitator throughout Ireland.

Tracey’s studio, White Rock Glass Studio, overlooks the hills and valleys of the ancient townland of Ballymoyer in South Armagh. It is housed in a renovated barn at her 200 year-old family farm house. You will enjoy a home cooked lunch in her traditional Irish country kitchen and be transported back in time to a bygone era. This is a relaxed experience where everyone can be creative in a positive and welcoming environment whilst making a piece of unique glass artwork.
