Event description

Description

Come and join us for one of our Forest School sessions specifically for 13-19 year olds, funded by Friends of Beaumont Park. We want you to shape these sessions and have more freedom and responsibility for how they work and what we do - so let us know your thoughts and ideas. We also need you to keep coming and bring your friends otherwise we won't be able to keep offering these sessions. Based on your feedback so far, we try and include:

  1. More food and the option to cook your lunch on the fire (Please bring a £2 contribution towards the cost of the food.)

  2. More free choice and self-guided activities. You take responsibility for what you want to do, how you want to do it and when.

  3. The chance to hang out and chat with friends - whether it's round the fire, in a den or hammock or while you're doing your chosen activity

  4. More challenging activities and the chance to try new things and learn new skills - walks and treasure hunts, team challenges, crafts and making, using tools and whittling, firelighting and campfire cooking, navigation and orienteering - and we may sometimes take you off-site from the usual Forest School site at Beaumont Park or use the wider park and surrounding area for activities.

We will be outside for the whole session and so you will need suitable clothing to keep warm and dry. Feel free to bring a packed lunch, or something to cook on the fire, but we will always try and provide something to cook (see above). Drinks and snacks will be provided.

These sessions are completely free and are kindly funded by Friends of Beaumont Park, however funding is getting harder and harder to find, so if you can make a donation, this will help us to keep running activities for children and families in our local community in every school holiday. You can donate on the day or via the new Paypal button on our website - www.naturesfootprints.co.uk. Any donation is welcome, but if you can afford, something in the region of £5-10 per young person would be a real help.

We also have a selection of outdoor clothing available (wellies, boots, waterproofs, ski gear, hats, gloves, scarves) that you can have to kit out your family, again in return for a small donation, that will help us keep running and cover our costs.

(Our sessions cost us £7.50 per child per hour to run, as we provide a good quality service and an inclusive provision with high staff to child ratios, so any contribution will be very much appreciated.)

Thank you for your help and support.
