About this event
So much more than just a place to drop off the kids for the day
This October school holiday, our Kids Wild Adventure Camps are open on Saturday 25th and Monday 27th October from 9am-5pm! This offers plenty of time for your Wildest of children to really get involved in nature and all the fun activities we can possibly squeeze into 8 hours!
No parents are needed here. We offer a friendly and accepting, free flowing Forest School inspired space, carefully held by highly qualified and experienced facilitators.
Our groups are purposely kept small (10-12 participants), which means we can give full attention to everyone, and no-one is overlooked. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed, with space for experimentation, fun and connection. We want every participant to feel valued and welcome.
Expect days of child led activity, using hand tools, making camp fires, arts, crafts, exploration, games and woodland fun at our beautiful site Heartwood based in Frylands Wood Scout Centre, Selsdon.
We will be weaving in some themes to our usual Forest school flow too.
This October...
Saturday is Challenge and Skills day - where you might expect anything from active, physical challenges to wide games and 'brain box work' of solving clues to find hidden treasure. Maybe a more energetic day, where you can also choose between improving your den building, knife work or friction fire lighting skills.
Monday is Creative and Chilled Day - using hand tools, arts and crafts materials and the natural world around us to make Amazing Autumnal things. Emphasis is on relaxing, not rushing. Cooking simple things on the fire, and spending slow time with friendly people.
Booking in advance is essential and we need a signed and completed consent form for every child taking part as we will have duty of care for your precious ones while they are with us. This will be sent out once booked, a couple of weeks prior to the event.
Food From home - Please send your children with a large packed lunch, and enough food for 2 snack times and plenty to drink. Water bottles can be easily topped up so don't send them with a bottle that is too big and heavy! Flasks with hot drinks or soups work well in the colder months too.
Food provided by us - We usually offer toast and a s'more to top up the packed lunches, and a hot chocolate or hot squash in the colder months. If your child has any dietary requirments, you can let us know on their consent form.
Spare clothing, waterproofs and robust footwear are a must!
About us...
We think that if everyone could spend a bit more time outside in nature, then the world would be a better place.
Suzy is the founder and director of Go Wild With Us UK Community Interest Company (established in 2016) and has been successfully reconnecting children, young people, adults and families with nature since 2008.

Suzy is a very experienced practitioner, having worked with children, young people, adults and families from a variety of backgrounds and with different abilities since 2001.

As well as being great at working with people, they have a wide range of skills and qualifications. Some are Forest School leader trained, and most have specialist experience in working with children and young people with learning difficulties and disabilities. All have trained with Suzy and the Go Wild Team over years to discover their own skills and individual place within our Wild Family.
We are incredibly lucky that all of our amazing team remain loyal and dedicated volunteers, some of whom were part of our 'Forest Project' for many years as young people, and who now help us out on a regular basis. Our community offerings would not happen without them. All our facilitators have enhanced DBS checks, are First Aid qualified and have attended relevant safeguarding training.
Frequently asked questions
Frylands Wood Scout Outdoor Centre Featherbed Lane, Croydon, CR0 9AA. Heartwood is a site reserved for our use only, which means everything we build or do there, stays there until next time!
There is free parking at Frylands Wood Scout Centre. We'll meet you there :)
We always aim to be inclusive, but we would ask you to drop us a line and we can arrange to chat with you over the phone so that we can make sure we are able to adequately support your child. We welcome one to one support workers, but cannot offer one to one support or personal care ourselves.
Ideally lots of thin layers, with a waterproof layer on top. Clothes you and they don't mind getting wet or dirty, and sturdy footwear - ideally waterproof walking boots. You will be sent a kit list prior to the event.
We would ask first timers to leave their whittling tools at home until we have carried out a safety/competency assessment with them. We will then discuss the possibility of bringing it to the next session with their parent / carer on collection.
If the child's allergy is significant, we will need to talk with the parent or carer to ensure we are able to keep them safe while out with us. We have a no nuts policy which we encourage all families to adhere to, but sometimes people forget. If we know in advance, we can mitigate the risks.
You can contact us on the number given on your welcome email. Please let us know as early as you can so we can make any necessary changes to our plans, and on drop off, be prepared to wait with your child while we come to find you.
