Nantlle Ridge – Hike and Swim

Join us this October for a women’s adventure along the stunning Nantlle Ridge in Eryri (Snowdonia). This quieter ridgeline offers dramatic views, rugged climbs, and sweeping panoramas as we journey across its multiple peaks. Along the way, we’ll pause for three refreshing wild swims, and end our trek at Nantlle.

Details:
📍 Start: Laybys on B4418, on the way to Rhyd Ddu (postcode LL54 6BH)

Google maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/SFm3sBMDtQLByydP7

What 3 words: ///worlds.excellent.burns

Please car share as parking is limited. If the layby is full, there is another one a little further down on the left, walk up to meet the group.
📏 Distance: 16km (10 miles) Ascent: 1000m in total (undulating)
Duration: Meet at 7.30am in the layby. We will aim to return to Nantlle before sunset where there will be a shuttle vehicle for drivers (17 mins)
⛰️ Difficulty: Challenging – this is a long walk with some scrambling, participants should have some prior experience of hiking for 10 miles and be patient to wait for those who have less experience. There is a choice of 3 beautiful swim locations, swimming is optional.

What to Expect:

  • You’ll summit several peaks along the way: Y Garn, Mynydd Drws-y-Coed, Trum y Ddysgl, Mynydd Tal-y-Mignedd (with an obelisk at its top), Craig Cwm Silyn (the highest point) and Garnedd Goch if we have time.
  • Lake swims, bring a costume for each swim you’d like to do, and lightweight towel!
  • Refreshments at the Coffee & Adventures horsebox at Gwern Gof Isaf campsite before the bus ride home.
  • A fully guided adventure with safety cover throughout.
  • A mix of wild swimming, hiking, and breathtaking scenery of Eryri and the Llyn Peninisula.
  • Cold water immersion – expect temperatures between 8–12°C on the swim.
  • A shared sense of adventure and camaraderie with like-minded swimmers and hikers.
  • A physically demanding but deeply rewarding challenge – you’ll finish the day tired and proud.

What to Bring:

  • Hiking boots
  • A swimsuit for each swim
  • Lightweight, mircofibre towel, swim socks/shoes, swimming gloves optional
  • Drybag for wet swim kit
  • Lunch, lots of snacks, at least 2lt water/squash and a hot drink in a flask.
  • Warm layers
  • Waterproof jacket and trousers
  • Walking poles (we provide free hire of poles if you do not have them)
  • Sunhat and sunscreen
  • Warm hat, gloves, scarf

We provide swim floats which are mandatory to wear on all swims

All participants will need to complete a medical form on arrival at the layby.
