Sales Have Ended
The OcuMel UK conference takes place annually in September, and involves experts in all aspects of ocular melanoma. The day is aimed at patients and caregivers, but medical professionals often find the event useful and are very welcome to take part. We build in plenty of time for socialising and networking, including morning and afternoon coffee breaks, and an hour for lunch.
This year we are celebrating the end of our fifth year as a charity, and we invite you to join with us for our best conference yet, as we welcome visitors from across Europe. We know many of our members are looking forward to meeting up with friends they have met online, perhaps for the first time, and to meet new contacts. This is a great opportunity to celebrate how far OcuMel UK has come, and to set the tone for the next 5 years.
Confirmed speakers include Dr Emine Kilic, a leading ocular oncologist based in the Netherlands, who will be talking about her department's innovative approach to working with patients, Dr Ioannis Karydis, a member of the Southampton metastatic ocular melanoma MDT, who will be talking about their most recent data on chemosaturation and plans for the new FOCUS trial, and Dr Helen Kalirai, a member of the Europe-wide UMCure 2020 team, who will be giving us an overview on this exciting €6 million project.
We are awaiting confirmation for speakers in medical oncology, research and patient participation. We will also be holding our popular patient panel, where patients tell their treatment stories, for which we hope to have a mixture of countries represented. We will update the speaker information as more are confirmed.
Attendance at the event, including refreshments, is completely free. In addition, OcuMel UK has funding to cover travel for those who would otherwise be unable to afford to attend, and for travel and accomodation for those coming a distance who would otherwise be unable to attend. Please call Kathryn Curtis to discuss your requirements on 02381 842021, or email her via Kathryn@ocumeluk.org.

MPNE Ocular Delegates
If you are booked in to attend the MPNE Ocular meeting on Saturday 24th September, and you wish to also attend the OcuMel UK conference, please do not register through Eventbrite. Instead contact Kathryn Curtis directly via Kathryn@ocumeluk.org.
OcuMel UK are keen to link up with other patient organisations as we recognise the need for collaborative working, given the rarity of the cancer. Accordingly, we look forward to welcoming delegates from the Dutch Melanoma Foundation, who have recently begun their ocular melanoma project. We are eager to make contact with patient advocates from other European countries, to encourage and support them with starting their own organisations. With the MPNE Ocular meeting taking place the following day, we hope that this will be a great chance to make those links, which will be so important for the future of ocular melanoma patients.
We look forward to seeing you! If you have any queries please do not hesitate to call Kathryn Curtis on 02381 842021, or you can email her via Kathryn@ocumeluk.org.
