About this event

Hobbies • DIY

Forget the toolbox—today we’re raiding it for bodies, legs, and a little sparkle! We’re taking those crusty old drill pieces and mystery metal bits and turning them into beautiful, buggy masterpieces. No experience needed—just your mum vibes, a love of shiny things, and maybe a biscuit or two. Let’s get crafty!

What You'll Learn in Copper Foiling (aka Bug Bling Bootcamp):

1. How to Cut Glass Without Panic

– We’ll show you how to score and snap like a crafty ninja. No blood, we promise!

2. Picking the Prettiest Pieces

– Learn to choose colours and textures that'll make your bug sparkle like it just flew out of a jewellery box.

3. Grinding Like a Rockstar

– Smooth those edges so your pieces fit together—and so you don’t slice your finger off mid-tea break.

4. Wrapping with Copper Tape

– It’s basically glass mummification, but make it shiny and fabulous.

5. Burnishing Like You Mean It

– Rub that tape down like you’re giving it a mini spa day. It’s oddly satisfying.

6. Soldering – Your New Superpower

– Melt some metal, join the pieces, and feel wildly powerful while doing it. (Yes, you get a hot tool!)

7. Adding Patina (If You’re Feeling Fancy)

– Change up the colour of your solder lines because why not give your bug a makeover?

8. Shine It Up!

– A quick clean and polish, and suddenly your insect looks like it belongs in a boutique window.

9. How to Show It Off Without Dropping It

– Tips on hanging and displaying your masterpiece so it can be admired (and not stepped on).

What to bring?

Closed-toe sturdy shoes (because toes and glass don’t mix), long sleeved top, a beenie, your wildest inspiration, and any rusty tools you dont want and want to dump on us—we promise we won’t judge; we will salute you!! 😜** all glass, materials and use of tools is included, no need to bring anything else.

Refreshments!!!

That’s right—we’ll have a little nectar on the side: optional prosecco, softies, and biscuits! This course is all about buzzing away from the chaos of home life and having some fun. 🐝✨ Got dietary needs? Pop them in the order form when booking your tickets!

What are the course times?

The course starts 5pm- 7.30pm with the option of running on if needed if your creation is bugging you!

Accessibility:

We want everyone to feel welcome! If you have any disabilities or physical limitations, just give us a buzz before booking so we can make sure your creative wings can truly fly. We will be using lead in the copper foiling process as well as chemicals so joking aside, please consider this if breast feeding, pregnant or trying. Lead can be harmful to fertility/babies and although all measures will be taken to reduce exposure, there are no guarantees. There is an option for lead-free solder which is harder to work with but unless everyone’s onboard its sort of pointless. If you still want to attend, there is the option of doing everything but the soldering and patina… I would be more than happy to finish your bug for you. You would still learn the skills to pick up the hobby at a later date.

🎵 Song requests:

I love blasting tunes while making stained glass magic—so let’s build a banger of a playlist together! Pick two songs you love, pop them in the comment section and I’ll add them to our jam session for the night. Let’s make bugs, not boredom—one rusty tool and dance track at a time!

Theres more you say!

Dare I say it… Christmas is looming!🎄There will be a small pop up shop set up for anyone who’s just that organised, who fancies jumping out of the bug world for 10 to check out fun and exciting gifting options. I’ll keep the good times rolling by offering a 10% discount for all magnificent bug creators.

Cancellations:

Our tiny ones at home can be unpredictable! I get it! Give us a ring, we will be hoping to put on many more sessions so it may be that we can squeeze you into another one at a more suitable time or if we can’t find a solution, a partial refund can be discussed if cancelled within 10 days of the event.

Frequently asked questions

I've never done stained glass before, can I attend?

Absolutely, it's encouraged!

Do I have to be a new mum to attend?

Not at all, any mums at any stage of their journey can come along

I'm not a mum, can I come?

Although I've aimed this one specifically for mums as a space to come and relax without the kids (and partner lol), I am in the process of creating other equally fabulous workshops for everyone else. Watch this space!

Can I take my finished piece home?

You certainly can!

How long is this workshop?

The workshop will be around 2hours 30mins but can run on a bit longer if you need some extra time to finish off your stained glass.
