odyssey - Birth, Life and Death: Three dates: 5th Oct, 2nd Nov, 7th Dec.

Have you ever wondered what it is all about - this life, who we are and what on earth (literally) we are supposed to be doing about it? Are we - human beings - smarter than other animals or intrinsically different? Can we, should we spend our time pursuing some sort of goal and if so what should that goal be?

Join Steve Clarke for "odyssey" - three evenings in autumn 2024 for a roller coaster ride through the arts, science, humour, philosophy and human relationships towards leading better lives.

Steve describes HIS life so far as “an implausible sequence of happy accidents peppered with absurdity” and he is ready to share some of his experiences with a wider audience as well as to learn from you how we can do better in the future.

During his varied career in the voluntary sector for 30 years and subsequently as a freelance trainer, project manager and accidental gardener, Steve has had breakfast with Barak Obama, lunch with Chelsea Clinton, driven Cherie Blair around South Africa, nearly fallen off a 90 metre precipice and experienced 3 mid-air dramas. He will draw on these and other experieces from his travels in Africa and Asia on as he reflects on life the universe and everything and invites you to do the same.

Part monologue, part poetry and music with opportunities for you to contribute to the ride odyssey promises to be an unforgettable experience - guaranteed or your money back!

This series of three sessions can be attended in person or streamed online. Each session is self-contained dovetailing with the other two to create an....odyssey! It will probably be unlike anything you have participated in before and, although primarily designed to entertain, will introduce you to new ideas and ways of thinking and leave you with a smile on your face.

For those attending in person, drinks are provided during the interval and participants who posess a mobile phone are asked to bring them and keep them turned ON during the evening!

The venue is the village hall or "Salle de Fêtes" in 79190 Limalonges half way between Poitiers and Angoulême in South west France. It is a modern accessible venue with ample parking just outside and just 5 minutes from junction 45 on the RN10. The toilets are adapted for people with limited mobility.

Each event starts at 19h30 French time C.E.T so if you plan to join online from outside France please check your time difference!
