The Esterhazy Singers explore the lyrical and sumptuous sound world of French choral writing in the last century. Featuring works such as the sublime ‘Requiem’ by Maurice Duruflé, Messiaen’s ‘O Sacrum Convivium’, Poulenc ‘Un Soir de Neige’ as well as earlier pieces by Saint-Saens and Fauré, this concert offers a unique insight into French composition and its development through the war years. Led by their new Musical Director, Andrea Brown, with the internationally renowned organist, Catherine Ennis and professional soloists, this Esterhazy Singers performance is not to be missed.
The concert programme is: Gabriel Fauré 'Cantique de Jean Racine'; Camille Saint-Saens ‘Calme des Nuits'; Olivier Messiaen ‘O Sacrum Convivium’; Francois Poulenc ‘Un Soir de Neige’; Olivier Messiaen movements from ‘The Glorious Bodies'; and Maurice Duruflé ‘Requiem’,
Inspired by the Esterhazy family, well-known patrons to musicians and composers including Haydn, we proudly provide young talented singers an opportunity to get experience with an established choir. By attending our concerts, you are helping us continue - and expand - the choral scholarship scheme.
