About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Join us for an off-road bike ride skills session, delivered by Graeme from British Cycling. This is a free event open to all self-identifying women and non-binary folk. The lesson will last 1.5 hours and is limited to 8 participants.

We will learn the basics of riding more technical off-road routes, and cover skills such as basic body positioning, flat cornering and banked cornering techniques, downhill riding, and progressive braking. For those that enjoy this taster session, there will be a chance to build on our skills next month at the pump track in Rushcliffe Country Park (date TBC).

The lesson will take place at King Edward Park, Carlton Road, where we can use the nice grassy sloped areas to practice, and Graeme will bring some extra ramps.

MEETING POINT: the top of King Edward Park, near to the car park through the entrance on the right (click here for a link to Google Maps).

TIME: meet at 10.15 am ready to start at 10.30.

You'll need a bike that is suitable for going off-road, e.g. a mountain or gravel bike, but if you have something other than this that you're willing to have a go on, that's fine. If you'd like to take part but don't feel you have anything suitable to ride, let us know as we may be able to provide a couple of mountain bikes on the day.

This lesson is led by Graeme Waters, a British Cycling Community Coach, who has achieved all sorts of weird and wonderful feats on a bike.

This event is hosted by Women in Tandem, a Community Interest Company based in Nottingham that aims to support and empower women to ride bikes.

Let us know if there is anything we can do to help enable you to join this lesson.
