When & Where
Born To Be Wide
Born To Be Wide is a Community Interest Company, based in central Scotland. It stages music business seminars, the annual Wide Days convention/showcases and the Off The Record youth events. The company also organises bespoke talks and workshops for other conferences, festivals and organisations.
Born To Be Wide started life in 2004 as an informal social night to bring together those involved in the Scottish music scene, and soon began attracting interest throughout the UK. Since April 2008 the company has hosted networking evenings, which begin with a discussion panel featuring key figures from the music industry.
In addition to its own promotions, Born To Be Wide has organised events in partnership with the BPI’s Big Music Project, the Scottish Parliament's Festival Of Politics, Education Scotland, the Edinburgh International Book Festival's Unbound programme, Heart Of Midlothian FC’s Big Hearts Community Trust, the Depot Recording Studio and creative industries convention, GoNorth.
