Join Localis in on the morning of Wednesday 4 July at the 2018 Local Government Association conference, Birmingham for a high-powered breakfast fringe event to debate and explore what policies and actions will prove vital to preserving the future of the high street.

The event begins promptly at 8.15 a.m.and lasts for an hour. Due to anticipated demand we kindly request that those wishing to attend register via Eventbrite.

Official launch of #GrimseyReview2 – an alternative future for our towns

The survival and growth of the traditional high street in the teeth of online shopping competition, changing consumer habits, development constraints and burgeoning business charges, is nothing less than a high-stakes battle - in which the very purpose of place is at stake for many hundreds of towns and cities.

As we mark the fifth anniversary of publication of the original Grimsey Review, a new report looking into what actions and interventions are necessary at local level to maintain high streets as commercially viable, community enhancing areas, will be launched at this breakfast fringe event.

Attendees at the report launch will be the first to pick up a copy of this eagerly-anticipated report and hear at first hand its central recommendations for high street renewal and survival. This will be followed by a panel debate involving one of the authors and retail expert Bill Grimsey and West Midlands Mayor Andy Street, to be chaired by UK Regeneration chief executive Jackie Sadek.
