Event description
We really hope that this training day will help to reduce the stress and workload associated with Ofsted inspections.

About this Event

We really hope that this online training will help to reduce the stress and workload associated with Ofsted inspections. The central focus will be to help and to make school fully aware of the changes and the implications on inspections.

Guidance will be shared about how you can prepare yourself for interim Autumn/Spring term 2020 Ofsted visits. There will be the opportunity to discuss what measures you can put in place to ensure you are ready for full inspections when they return.

Past course feedback -

“A detailed but concise course which was very thought provoking” Paul Crook (Nov 2020)

“This was a fantastic course . I feel far better prepared as a result. The level of detail provided was fantastic. ” Tamsin Hamilton (Oct 2020)

“Thank you. This was a very informative and well led course.” Phil Randal (Nov 2019)

“A very useful day outlining the new framework, because there was a small group of us at the event it meant we could discuss more in-depth conversations. We had opportunities to ask questions that we may not have had if there was a big audience.“ Christine Smiles

“It was excellent to have an extremely knowledgeable trainer.  The opportunity to discuss inspection scenarios and areas to consider specific to our context was really valuable.” Tom Mannion (Oct 2019)

"Very informative. I feel I know what to expect from an interim phone call and inspection visit under the new framework. It was helpful to hear the type of questions that might be asked." Jo Beaumont (Nov 2020)

This workshop will help you to use the new framework to be mindful of it and bring about school improvement by:

  • Ofsted Autumn term interim ‘visits’: This webinar will include all the details that schools need to know and what to expect. Example questions will be shared from the past two weeks.
  • Developing your understanding of what Ofsted does and does not want you to do, which will help you to reduce stress and unnecessary workload for yourself and your staff
  • Interpreting the new inspection framework and handbook in order to identify good practice and support you to establish improvements.

  • Make certain that your self-evaluation is accurate and evidence based.

  • Developing clear strategic planning and measurable success criteria for improvement.

  • Ensuring that all staff and governors are well briefed and understand what to expect during an inspection

Ofsted’s new framework for September 2019, is under way with schools experiencing inspections under the new framework. These changes will move Ofsted’s focus away from headline data to look instead at how schools are achieving these results and whether they are offering a curriculum that is broad, rich and deep.

We are pleased to have arranged an excellent speaker, to lead and share experiences of the new framework and what it will mean for your school. We will provide an extended opportunity for questions.

Objectives of this training workshop

  • Be taken through each aspect of the inspection framework.

  • Consider the new elements and changes of emphasis of the framework, in order to capture best practice.

  • Look closely at the sources of evidence required to make each judgement, the criteria for making judgements and best practice models.

  • Identify how to present your evidence clearly and succinctly.

  • Consider the current levels of effectiveness in your own school.

  • Identify where the practice is strong with supporting evidence, or how it might be developed.

  • Be given the opportunity to plan how your school will prepare the practicalities on the phone call and following it.

This workshop will enable school leaders to manage and reduce the stress that may correspond with school inspection, through good leadership practice and taking account of best practice.

The workshop will include an update on Ofsted’s recent changes to the inspection framework, providing you with the chance to examine key areas of the inspection in relation to your own school. You will be able to learn and share with others on the course how to improve all aspects of school leadership.

You will have the opportunity to examine the appropriateness of your self-evaluation and action plan to express your school’s journey to staff and governors. We will look at pupil outcomes and how to present the best evidence effectively.
