Event description

Description

This workshop training day will help to reduce the stress and workload associated with Ofsted inspections: including an update on changes for the New Ofsted Inspection Framework 2019.

This workshop will help you to use the framework to bring about school improvement by:

  • Developing your understanding what Ofsted does not want you to do, which will help you to reduce stress and workload for yourself and your staff

  • Interpreting the inspection framework and handbook in order to identify good practice and support you to establish school improvement

  • Make certain that your self-evaluation is accurate.

  • Developing clear strategic planning and measurable success criteria for improvement.

  • Ensuring that all staff and governors are well briefed and understand what to expect during an inspection

Ofsted’s new framework for September 2019, is definitely on its way with some press releases stating that ‘these changes will move Ofsted’s focus away from headline data to look instead at how schools are achieving these results, and whether they are offering a curriculum that is broad, rich and deep, or simply 'teaching to the test’.

We are pleased to have arranged an experienced Inspector, to come and discuss the new framework and what it will mean for your school. We will provide an extended opportunity for questions.

Objectives of this training workshop

  • Be taken through each aspect of the current and proposed inspection framework.

  • Consider the new elements and changes of emphasis of the framework, in order to fully embrace best practice.

  • Look closely at sources of evidence required to make each judgement, the criteria for making the judgements and best practice models

  • Identify how best to present your evidence clearly and succinctly

  • Consider the current levels of effectiveness in your own school

  • Identify where practice is strong, or might be developed.

  • Be given the opportunity to plan how your school will prepare the practicalities following the phone call

'What we want to see on inspection is an accurate reflection of what happens in your school. Yes, we want to see how you approach assessment. We want to see good teaching. We absolutely want to be sure that your leadership is effective. But we want to see all of that just as you approach it day-to-day, not as a special presentation for Ofsted.’

Amanda Spielman, March 2018

This workshop will enable school leaders to manage and reduce the stress that may correspond with a school inspection, through good leadership practice and taking account of best practice.

The workshop will include an update on Ofsted’s recent changes to the inspection framework, providing you with the chance to examine key areas of an inspection in relation to your own school. You will be able to learn how to improve all aspects of school leadership.

You will have the opportunity to examine the appropriateness of your self-evaluation and action plan to express your school’s journey to staff and governors. We will look at pupil outcomes and how to present the best evidence effectively.
