#ogpuk: Public Accountability workshop
Event Information
#ogpuk: Public Accountability workshop
Portcullis House, London, United Kingdom
Event Description
This workshop will develop commitments to public accountability for the UK's 2016-18 Open Government Partnership National Action Plan. Ideas under consideration (see the Open Government Manifesto) will include:
- Make all parliamentary data freely available
- Increase citizen involvement in the legislative process
- Enshrine Parliamentary Openness
- Open up the court system to public scrutiny
As a member of the Open Government Partnership, every two years the UK government in collaboration with civil society must develop an open government national action plan, setting out specific, measurable and time bound commitments to open government reforms. Progress against these commitments will be reviewed by civil society and the Independent Reporting Mechanism of the OGP.
The UK's third National Action Plan is due for publication in June 2016, and is being collaboratively developed between government and civil society. This workshop will feed directly into the development of public accountability commitments for the action plan.
