Hello everyone,
I’m so glad to see you all here today — fellow science technicians, problem-solvers, multi-taskers, and quiet champions behind the scenes.
As someone who’s worked as a science technician, I know firsthand that it can often be a lonely role. We’re the ones making sure experiments work, equipment is ready, safety is maintained, and somehow, we do it all with a limited budget and even more limited time. With looming budget cuts ahead, it’s likely more of us will find ourselves as lone technicians, holding the fort on our own.
That’s why today — and this community — matters so much.
We’re here not just to share resources or tips (though we’ll definitely do plenty of that!), but to remind each other that we are not alone. Whether it’s a forgotten piece of equipment you suddenly need or a practical fix for that one experiment that never goes to plan — someone here has been there. And they’re happy to help.
We all know how important confidence is in this role. Confidence to speak up, to try something new, to say “I don’t know — but I’ll find out.” And that confidence grows so much stronger when we support and empower each other.
So today, let’s connect. Let’s share stories, tricks, and maybe even a few laughs about those “oops” moments we’ve all had. Let’s borrow that forgotten item, swap a clever hack, and walk away feeling a little less alone, and a lot more inspired.
Thank you for being here — and thank you for being part of this vital community.
Let’s get started!
