About this event

Community • Historic

With many fine old photos including Halifax Workhouse – later St John’s Hospital, The Cattle Market, and Belle Vue Library. Do you recall old St Augustine’s Church? Where was John Crossley’s Model Village? Where was the Gaol in which Branwell Bronte’s closest friend died ?

Where was there an amazing cheap book manufactory? Where did the only bomb fall on Halifax in World War II which caused fatalities? And where was the Kumificar business?

All these questions and more will be answered in what promises to be a fascinating trip down memory lane with David and his remarkable collection of old Halifax images.

This event is a fund raising event which relies on donations to cover the costs of equipment and room hire. Tea and Coffee and Biscuits will be served for a small donation to cover costs.

This is a free event and replaces an earlier event which we have had to postpone on the same date and time.

Organised by Halifax Civic Trust volunteers. All donations support the ongoing work of our volunteers promoting and protecting Halifax’s heritage and our Blue Plaques Scheme.
