Overview
At the next Older Workers Forum, we will be joined by two speakers to talk about Older Workers in Self-Employment as well as the benefits of employing people over 50 and strategies to support them in accessing the labour market.
Rhys Williams, Lead Trainer and Business Start-Up Advisor, RIFT Social Enterprise
Rhys will talk about Older Workers in Self-Employment, exploring how this demographic can turn their existing skills, passions and hobbies into running a business and becoming financially sustainable.
RIFT Social Enterprise supports participants furthest from the jobs market into self-employment via training, 1:1 support and upskilling soft skills. Rhys is responsible for delivering training function and webinars, as well as carrying a caseload of participants supporting them to start their businesses.
He has worked in the sector for almost a decade and is passionate about empowering older people to translate their experience into modern business success, ensuring they have the digital tools and confidence to thrive in today’s market.
Craig Doyle, Director of Employability and Skills, Trigon Recruitment
Craig will present about the benefits of employing people over 50 and also strategies for over 50’s to use to access the labour market.
With over 20 years experience in the Welfare to work and employability and skills sectors, Craig started his career as a ‘Personal Advisor’ supporting long term unemployed JSA claimants into work through to Director level in several reputable organisations including Reed In Partnership, A4e and Babington. With significant experience across a wide range of programmes, Craig has a detailed understanding of all roles and their requirements, both in terms of skill set and qualifications required and also personal attributes. With extensive recruitment experience and a proven track record of assembling high performing teams, Craig is able to offer outstanding recruitment solutions for the sectors many providers.
Craig is committed to Older Workers, previously working as a 50+ specialist employment advisor, and is passionate about the value that this cohort can bring.
