Join us for Tier 2 of the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism, the government-backed training developed to ensure staff working in health and social care have the right skills and knowledge to provide high-quality, compassionate care for people with a learning disability and autistic people.

This training has been co-designed, co-delivered, and is evidence-based – shaped by people with lived experience, families, professionals, and experts.

What Will You Learn?

  • Understanding the experiences of autistic people and people with a learning disability
  • Communication strategies and reasonable adjustments
  • Recognising sensory and environmental needs
  • Legal frameworks and best practices
  • Real-world scenarios and co-delivered lived experience

Why This Training Matters:

The training is named in memory of Oliver McGowan, whose tragic and avoidable death highlighted the urgent need for improved understanding of autism and learning disability in health and social care settings. The aim is to prevent future tragedies and support positive, person-centred care.
