Event description

Description

On 7 November Bloomsbury publish a new colour edition of the Hogwarts Library classic, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, by J.K. Rowling.

Olivia Lomenech Gill, winner of the English Association Picture Book Award and Kate Greenaway Medal shortlisted artist, is one of the first female artists to fully illustrate work from the Harry Potter canon.

Olivia uses traditional techniques to create her art with no digital elements or manipulation, and she is inspired by her local surroundings in Northumberland.

To celebrate the book's publication on November 7, House of Illustration and Bloomsbury invite you to come and hear Olivia talk about the inspiration behind the artwork, including how she drew on nature in coming up with ideas for the beasts and used a variety of techniques, including prints and etchings, watercolour and charcoal sketches.

Important to know:

This will be a talk, Q&A and book signing. It is free event but places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
