About this event

In October 2023 the Embroiderers’ Guild commenced the huge but joyous task of digitising their collection. A selection of these items was exhibited at Knitting & Stitching Show in Harrogate in 2024 and during 2025 are on show in the Beryl Dean Gallery at Discover Bucks Museum.

Many items required care and preparation before they could be photographed for the digitisation project and readying for exhibition. This talk shares the techniques the Guild team have used to store, care and present at their best a wide range of textile embroidery items.

Anthea Godfrey, Guild Trustee has built further on her already deep experience which she will share during this talk. Topics covered will include:

  • How to deal with marks on textile pieces
  • Caring for Whitework
  • The use of steam
  • Folding and Storage
  • Battens and hanging channels
