The Embroiderers Guild have been involved in co-ordinating some exciting largescale projects over the years. and it would be great to share them with more people. This talk covers three of the more unusual projects;

• Magna Carta Embroidery with the artist Cornelia Parker

• The Hard Home, Game of Thrones figure

• Reasons to be Thankful pandemic wall hanging to say ‘thank you’ to the NHS

Why not join us to be informed and inspired by Embroiderers’ Guild Artistic Director and Embroidery expert Anthea Godfrey. Anthea will take us through how these extraordinary projects were realised from initial planning and engaging a wide variety of participants to bringing each project to fruition including presentation, transportation, hanging and managing publicity opportunities .

Anthea Godfrey is a highly experienced embroiderer and educator.

Her previous positions have included Principal Lecturer at the London College of Fashion, and Principal of The International School of Creative Arts, London, she has also worked in film and theatre too.

Anthea is currently Artistic Director of The Embroiderers’ Guild and has led many fantastic projects, often on an epic scale, not only for the Guild, but also for organisations and for public arts projects. 

She is a passionate supporter of creativity in all its forms, and in keeping our skills alive and relevant to the next generations.
