On Screen: Women, Identity, and Cultural Heritage, showcasing works from ESEA artists and cultural practitioners
How do we remember intergenerational care through film and story? During this year’s ESEA Heritage Month 2025: Reframing Resilience, we invite you to a responsive experience, exploring voices and stories of East and Southeast Asian women. We’ll screen two to three carefully curated short films exploring migration, memory, identity, love, and care, and invite creative responses both collectively and personally.
Expect snacks, casual conversations, and moments of connection. After each screening, there will be a gentle space to reflect, write, draw, share, or simply sit with what you’ve seen.
All are welcome: We warmly encourage you to bring any languages and mother tongues, and to engage in whichever form of expression feels right for you.
Accessibility: The event takes place at Glasgow Zine Library, which is wheelchair accessible, including toilet facilities. Tea, coffee, and refreshments are provided. A quiet space is available, and you’re welcome to browse the library’s shelves in between sessions. Further information, please find here GZL's Accessibility Guide.
A Love Letter to Dear Her: Screening & Poetry Writing
19th September, 2025
Alongside each screening, we’ll host a loosely guided poetry session, integrating collage, song sharing, and zine-making, with the potential to produce a collaborative zine to be shared later, or create your own to take home. All materials are provided, prompts are optional, and you’re welcome to bring your own supplies.
Personal Stories: Screening & Storytelling
20th September, 2025
Alongside each screening, join an open storytelling session about intergenerational care. No prior experience is needed; Peilin will introduce and share examples of storytelling. This session invites participants to try multilingual storytelling with folksong singing in a supportive, caring atmosphere.
This event is made possible thanks to Peiwen Legacy Fund, BESEAN, Glasgow Zine Library, Josey-Ann Green, and all participating artists, including Xiaoyu Sherry Xiong, Nanjoo Lee, and Tai Kwun (HK).
