On the Line with Historian & Author Richard Rinaldi - Modern British Army
Overview
The October 2024 revision of the British Army’s website carried the headnote ‘The Army The Nation Needs: Protecting the United Kingdom and helping it prosper by fighting and winning our battles from the land’. Volume 2 of The Modern British Army seeks to examine the current state of Britain’s ability to fight and sustain a conventional land war in the immediate future.
Since the end of the Cold War the British Army has undergone a seemingly endless series of reviews, each inevitably reducing personnel strength and equipment holdings. The 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 has brought the question of defence, and the state of the British Army in particular, into sharp focus.
Volume 2 of The Modern British Army continues the examination of the effects of recent reviews and equipment programmes, and takes an in-depth look at the organisation of the Army as it stands in early 2025.
This volume includes over 130 high quality full colour photographs and 20 specially commissioned colour artworks.
"....If modern British military equipment is in your wheelhouse, this book is a worthy pick up. The photos are vivid and the profiles feature some colorful options including the British flag themed Boxer on the rear cover. To gain a current sense of the state of the modern British Army, this is a pretty thorough read to gain some insight. Highly Recommended for those interested in current British armaments." AMPS
