Event description
Fellow Interintellect Gabor Suhajda explores the real responsibility of designers in an era of absolute technology

About this Event

“When you invent the ship, you also invent the shipwreck” – Paul Virilio.

"Access to technology has become a lot easier in recent decades, not just for consumers, but for producers as well: it’s never been easier to build things for people.

Among many factors, user experience plays an increasingly important role in the success of those businesses, and designers are heavily involved in shaping that experience – well beyond aesthetics and usability.

We designers are tasked with creating a smooth and engaging experience, but the question arises: what are we really responsible for - the financial success of our employers or the long-term well-being of our users?

Where are the boundaries of responsibility when building today’s - and tomorrow’s - platforms?

Who should make sure that we don’t overlook the wider implications of our decisions? What is the role of designers in this process? Is it possible to apply ethics in practice? When and how to say no...?" - Salon host Gabor Suhajda
