Event description

Description

On the Road is the third national Anglican Fresh Expressions Conference. It will take place in the historic city of York. We will meet in St Michael le Belfrey Church, next to York Minster, and there will be workshops in several city centre churches.

The conference is for everyone committed to evangelism and growth. It is an opportunity for those involved in fresh expressions of church, growing our parish churches, church planting/grafting and pioneering, or who are interested in knowing more. We will gather to be encouraged and inspired by listening to others and their experiences and sharing our own. There will be workshops covering a range of topics, from well-known leaders in their respective fields, as well as worship together at The Belfrey at the start and end of the day.

The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, will be part of the conference and will deliver a key note address at the start. The Archbishop said, “I am looking forward to participating in this year’s Anglican Fresh Expressions Conference. During 2017 and 2018 I am undertaking weekend missions within each deanery in the York Diocese, encouraging all to share the love of Jesus Christ with those they meet. As a church we need to reach out to where people are, enabling them to find and explore the love that God has for them and the new life in Christ this brings.”

INFORMATION

SEMINARS: You’ll see below that we have a heap of amazing seminars, taken by leaders in evangelism and fresh expressions. During the day you can attend three. There’s no need to book for a seminar – just come along. There’s a special track for those who are new to fresh expressions, beginners on the journey.

CONSULTATIONS: There is an opportunity for a one-to-one consultation (or group/team) with some experienced leaders on, for example, Messy Church, being a pioneer, growing your local church. You’ll need to request a consultation and we hope we can fit you in. You’ll see on the programme who is offering a consultation. Email with the details to jane.merrington@archbishopofyork.org

LUNCH: Unfortunately we cannot provide lunch or coffees but there are lots of cafes in the city centre. Alternatively, you can order a sandwich lunch (including sandwich, crisps, sweet treat, fruit and drink) from us for £5. You can pay on the day but you must order one when you have booked. Let us know any dietary requirements and book a lunch by emailing jane.merrington@archbishopofyork.org

CONVERSATIONS: There’ll be opportunities during the day to network with those involved in evangelism and fresh expressions. The seminars leave loads of time for questions and dialogue.

SENIOR LEADERS: There’s particular conversations for Bishops, Archdeacons and those involved in theological education. Check the programme.

RESOURCES and BOOKS: We have market stalls at the Pit Stop. Check the programme.
