The future of urban cycling
Join us for the RSA North West Annual Forum and debate as part of National Bike Week.
Over the last few years cycling has become increasingly popular more so since Bradley Wiggins’ Tour de France win and the magnificent UK cycling results in the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
- Is the general message “everyday cycling for everyone” a reasonable one to have in an urban environment?
- What are the social, health and environmental benefits of cycling?
- What are the barriers in getting people on their bikes?
With the highest obesity levels in the EU the UK is now encouraging its’ population to have at least 30 minutes of activity five days a week. Cycling is one activity that can help improve people’s fitness and keep their weight under control.
The debate will be followed by the RSA North West Annual Forum with an update on local activity from North West Regional Chair, Lilian Barton and an overview of national Fellowship Council activity from Deputy Chair, Wiard Sterk.
