Event description
Poetry Collective On Your Doorstep's debut performance.

About this event

On Your Doorstep Poetry Collective is a group of creative writers who came together during the pandemic through workshops facilitated by Scarlett Ward-Bennett and Homegrown31, to develop their writing and be a part of a creative community. The group consists of over 20 members of poets, short fiction authors, photographers, spoken word performers, and other artists, who come together every week to work on writing exercises, share their recent work, and develop as individuals as well as a group. The collective ranges in age and experience levels, from people who have never written before, to seasoned poets looking for a breath of fresh inspiration. The collective also started their own magazine, On Your Doorstep Magazine, which gave members the opportunity to be published and experience the submission process.

Homegrown31 is supported by Creative Academies Network and Arts Council Funding and is a platform which helps support creatives in the Black Country and West Midlands. Scarlett Ward-Bennett is a published Poet and performer, and has been facilitating workshops with Homegrown31 since 2019.

This popular event is now entering its fifth year and thanks to funding from Arts Council England it is now a regular feature on the city’s calendar.

While this year we are having to do things differently we still have a great variety of entertainment lined up for the three-day festival with over 35 different events.

Visitors will be able to listen to talks, watch performances and take part in practical workshops. All events have been organised with safety in mind.

We will be monitouring Government guidance carefully and will inform you of any changes to events.
