Event Details

At O N C A, we deliver and support ecological and creative learning activities for children, young people & families.

Every Thursday this August, we are teaming up with a different local artist to deliver creative workshops for young people and families!

14 Aug | Family Printmaking with Lisboa Social Press - 10am-12pm
(8+ family workshop)
isboa Social Press will be making a splash on ONCA’s Barge, hosting a hands on printmaking afternoon. Their relaxed workshop starts off with a few fun drawing games, before guiding the group through collagraph and mono-printing techniques with two hours of curated exercises.

22 Aug | Laser Cut Jewellery with Rebecca Tucknott - 10am-12pm
(8-13 years old)
Kids have the opportunity to choose from a variety of designs to make one (or more if there's time) piece of jewellery learn about laser cutting for experienced 3D design and craft facilitator Rebecca Tucknott and will leave the workshop with either a badge or a pendant to take home!

Aug 29 | Book Binding and Cyanotypes with Margot Minnot-Thomas - 10am-12pm
(6-11 years old)
Coming back to the Barge once more is ONCA favourite Margot Minnot-Thomas. Her last workshop sold out on the Barge so be sure to grab your tickets early. Using an old photographic printing technique, cyanotype, we will create underwater stories inspired by all the wonderful fish, seaweed and birds of Sussex. Kids will make their own storybook, hand-bound and ready to take home.

Aug 29 | afternoon - Movement and Mark Making with Tara Rai and ONCA
(6-11 years old)
Movement and Mark Making is a summer workshop for children between 6-11 to freely create and express themselves in a safe space. Led by ONCA facilitator Ellie Liddell-Crewe and nomadic artist Tara Rai, this two hour workshop will be a playful, innovative way to make large, artwork like never before. With drama activities and messy mark making all encompassed into one 2 hour workshop!

Accessibility
The disabled ramp is located next to McDonalds to allow access to the Marina Boardwalk. There is another ramp that leads from Marina walkway down to the dock where the Barge is located. However, at low tide the ramp is steep for a wheelchair. There are two accessible toilets on the main deck.

Sibling Discount
If you are booking for multiple children, please email us with your name and the names of the children, and we will send you a discount code.

Discounted Tickets
We have a limited amount of free spaces at each workshop. If you would like your child to attend a workshop but are unable to pay, please email us with your name and the names of the children and we will send you a discount code.
