Sonoma 1BC™ Virtual Info Session!

We're excited to announce the Sonoma One Block Challenge™ (1BC), an initiative developed by the Regenerative Viticulture Foundation. The info session is open to all wine growers and vintners who are curious about regenerative viticulture and want to learn more about the One Block Challenge and what it entails before commiting to joining.

The One Block Challenge™

The One Block Challenge™, developed by the Regenerative Viticulture Foundation and piloted in Paso Robles in February 2025, gives growers a low-risk, practical entry point into regenerative agriculture. Participants commit one vineyard block—or even a few rows—to trial selected regenerative practices for a single season. Each grower chooses from a regionally adapted menu that may include diverse cover crops, compost applications, removing herbicides, reducing tillage, and integrating livestock. Baseline and year-end soil assessments help participants understand the changes on their block and decide whether to expand these practices more widely.

The One Block Challenge is now active in New Zealand, South Africa, Texas, and the UK, with additional California regions launching soon.

About the Regenerative Viticulture Foundation

The Regenerative Viticulture Foundation (RVF) is a registered charity that advocates for the global transition to regenerative farming in vineyards. Its work focuses on translating science into practice and supporting growers in adopting methods that restore soil health, increase biodiversity, and strengthen vineyard resilience. The One Block Challenge™ exemplifies RVF’s broader work to accelerate the adoption of regenerative practices worldwide. RVF’s goal is for 10 % of the world’s vineyards to be managed regeneratively by 2035. Its mission is to inspire and empower the transition towards regenerative viticulture through science, communication, and support for growers. Learn more at regenerativeviticulture.org
