Annie has spent her nursing career by the bedsides of people facing cancer, listening, comforting, and being part of their stories. Now, as she shares moments from the patients and families who have shaped her, we learn that Annie has an unfolding story of her own.
Through voices gathered from real conversations, One Day at a Time takes us from waiting rooms to pub tables, from moments of quiet dread to bursts of unexpected laughter. It’s about the things people wish they’d known, the myths they want to challenge, and how life changes long after the last appointment.
Honest, warm, and fiercely human, this is a play about cancer, recovery, and how we find the strength to live — one day at a time.
This moving performance is the culmination of One Day at a Time - a creative project shaped by the voices and experiences of people whose lives have been impacted by cancer. Throughout the programme, we have listened, shared, and collaborated with individuals navigating the realities of diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and loss, creating a space for reflection, resilience, and connection.
One Day at a Time is funded by the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Cancer Alliance Innovation Award.
