Serenity Integrated Mentoring (SIM) is a National Innovation Accelerator model which has been shown to reduce crisis for High Intensity Users of mental health services. We would like to invite you to this three day training event focused on implementing the model on behalf of Lancashire Police, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, Healthier Lancashire + South Cumbria, Innovation Agency and Partners.

The model has been utilised in many areas with evidence demonstrating that support to reduce crisis has resulted in a decrease in the use of Section 136 and a subsequent reduction in associated mental health and police resources. As a result, cost savings have also occurred.

This one day training course will provide you with the skills to be able to locally implement the SIM (or SIM like) model.

The day is focussed on developing a local high intensity crisis care team and therefore is open to representatives from all organisations and teams who care for people in crisis, most notably:

• Police (including Call Management / Street Triage / Response / Neighbourhood Policing / Mental Health Team)
• Ambulance service (including but not exclusive to High Intensity User specialist staff and Call Management)
• A&E staff and Psychiatric Liaison teams
• AMHP teams and other social care staff
• s136 Suite staff
• Mental Health Crisis and Community Teams
• 3rd Sector Mental Health providers in the local community
• Service Users/Lived Experience Reps
• Mental Health Commissioning Staff

The purpose of the day is to explain and discuss high intensity crisis care and agree to develop this project as a single crisis care system where all partners in the room have a vital contribution to make.

The National Innovation Accelerator (NIA) fellow Paul Jennings will chair the event and facilitate the programme for the day; lunch and refreshments will be provided.
