About the One Giant Leap Skills Bootcamp
Are you a freelancer working in the creative, arts, or cultural industries and looking to power up your business skills?

The One Giant Leap: Business Skills for Creative and Cultural Freelancers Skills Bootcamp is designed specifically for freelancers living or working in Cheshire and Warrington. Delivered in a hybrid format (mainly online with occasional in-person sessions in Warrington), this fully funded 6-week programme supported by the Department for Education and Enterprise Cheshire and Warrington will give you practical tools to grow your freelance practice and unlock new opportunities.

Eligibility

• 19 or over on or before 31st August 2025
• Must have the right to work in the UK
• Must have lived in England for at least 3 years
• Be self-employed and not in full time education
• Live in Cheshire and Warrington
• Have access to a laptop or desktop, and the internet
• You must not have attended another Skills Bootcamp from 1st April 2024 until 31st March 2025

Preferential places will be given to those based in Cheshire and Warrington, though freelancers from surrounding areas are also welcome to apply.

Learners must commit to the full 6 weeks, individual sessions aren't optional.

Registering via Eventbrite is an expression of interest, and doesn't guarantee a space on the Skills Bootcamps. We will arrange an informal screening call prior to any enrollments.

Over the course of the One Giant Leap Skills Bootcamp, you will:

• Explore how to protect and manage your work through intellectual property and copyright.
• Gain confidence in business planning, pitching, and contract negotiations.
• Learn how to sell your creative offer, win more clients, and grow your community.
• Develop strategies to market yourself effectively and secure sustainable income.
• Connect with like-minded creatives and expand your professional network.
• Receive tailored 1:1 mentoring throughout and beyond the programme, aligned to your business goals.
• Create a SMART business plan and be supported to find onward contracts and opportunities.
• Learn from industry-leading tutors, experts, and creatives and much more.

Commitment: Participants must be able to commit approximately 10–12 hours per week for 6 weeks, including workshops, online learning, and mentoring.

The next One Giant Leap Skills Bootcamp is expected to begin mid-October (week commencing 13th October) and run through to November. Exact dates will be officially confirmed during enrollment.
