Description
Two expert speakers from the fields of scientific knowledge transfer, Intellectual property and law, will present at the next ONE Life Sciences Network meeting which will be held in Aberdeen on 13th November 2019.
Dr Ian Heywood, Knowledge Transfer Adviser at the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), will discuss the benefits of Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) to companies, scientists and universities and highlight a series of successful examples from the North East of Scotland. The KTP programme promotes business-led, open innovation by connecting companies with academic expertise to enable them to grow their business and is part-funded by the KTN.
David Dennis, Senior Associate at law firm, CMS will also share his insights on the importance of securing legal agreements in advance of commencing partnerships and the importance of protecting and developing IP.
Life Sciences is a key growth sector in North East Scotland. The Life Sciences board of private sector economic development body Opportunity North East (ONE) - working with companies and partners including the University of Aberdeen, Robert Gordon University and NHS Grampian - is driving activity and investing in the region to develop a Life Sciences cluster that is recognised nationally and internationally for excellence in biologics, imaging and digital in order to solve the world’s modern health epidemics.
