The Stradling Collection comprises over 2,000 objects — from studio and commercial ceramics to glass, sculpture, furniture, industrial design, and artworks — all thoughtfully gathered by one man: Ken Stradling. Recognised for its national importance, the collection is a true cultural gem of the South West.

In this talk, uncover the fascinating story of Ken Stradling — our founding ‘Incidental Collector’ — alongside the history of the now-closed Guild and other remarkable moments from our evolving 20th and 21st-century design collection.

How accessible is the Stradling Collection?

Our building, unfortunately, has very limited wheelchair access. The stairs between each floor are a little steep. There will always be seating provided for those who need it, please mention your accessibility needs to the guide before the tour begins.

The Stradling Collection is a remarkable collection of C20th and C21st design and applied arts. It contains almost 2000 pieces of ceramics, glass, furniture and decorative objects. It is a charity established by Ken Stradling MBE for the education of current and future makers and for us all to learn from and enjoy.

The gallery features changing exhibitions from the Collection, or artworks created through our learning programme and entry to all our exhibitions remains free.

Events such as this help us raise much-needed funds to keep Ken's vision alive and to assure the future of his delightful collection.
