Description

The Conference

In our streets, schools, families, places of work etc. we see and experience wonderful diversity. Different ages, stages, nations, languages, cultures and experiences which God has placed us among make up our mission field. In the midst of this, we are a people of influence with a tremendous opportunity to bring love, hope, joy and peace as we look to be a blessing to the town of Bedford and beyond!

With this in mind, we’re looking forward to what promises to be an amazing One New People Conference this year where we’ll be focussing on being a people who reach out.

There will be great worship and a range of talks with some practical questions to help us apply what we hear. On Saturday we’ll be welcoming Tony and Linda from Hope Church Luton where God has been opening doors to reach out across social barriers and cultures. We’ll also be running an awesome children’s session.

I know that as we come together Jesus will stir our hearts afresh as one new people with vision, compassion and courage to reach out to the wonderful diversity that makes up Bedford.

Tony Thompson and Linda Geevanathan

It’s great to have Tony and Linda from Hope Church Luton with us at our One New People Conference.

Tony planted and leads Hope Church. From the beginning of his spiritual journey, he has sought to bridge the gap between the church and the wider community.

Linda has lived in several countries but she spent the first years of her life in Luton. She taught in a Marsh Farm school in Luton for ten years. She brings considerable leadership gifting to Hope Church, overseeing their work into the community as well as their under 18s work.

Hope Church are pioneering a Sunday afternoon service which gathers the homeless, local street workers, those who would be unable to access their regular Sunday service. They also represent a group called FACES (faiths against child sexual exploitation) which is a partnership between Christians and Muslims and are a founder members of FEAST, a national charity bringing youth from churches and mosques together. Their children’s worker includes working with Muslim families and running family events for our families and Muslim families as part of their job description.
