Event description

Description

Based on Stéphane Mallarmé's poem of the same name, "One Throw of The Dice" is an drop-in interactive installation that combines sound, image and touch inviting the viewer to explore the pages of Mallarmé's piece in an immersive way, while giving it a personal meaning.

It is large-scale 12m x 5m multimedia piece, with an interactive sculpture consisting of suspended aluminium bars in free-standing 2m x 2m frames. It combines touch and adaptive sound and powerful visuals in an immersive, multi-sensory playful experience.

The installation is open between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m on the 1st and the 2nd August on a drop-in basis (allow 20 - 30 minutes to get the best experience of it), in the stunning setting of the Playfair Library, Old College, South Bridge Edinburgh. Designed by the architect William Henry Playfair in neo-classical style in the early 1900s, the Playfair Library housed the University of Edinburgh Library from 1827 for a 140 years.
