About this event

  • 3 hours

This double workshop, held over two Thursdays, will look at the skills and practice of walk-and-talk eco-therapy. We will explore the foundations of taking therapeutic practice outdoors, revisit some of the practical considerations, and look at different modes of working. There will be opportunities to practice methods and engage in small group discussions as well as space for sharing experiences.

Topics covered will include:

  • The therapeutic triangle outdoors
  • Facilitative dialogue and side-by-side relationship
  • Relationships and boundaries
  • Embodied practice
  • Metaphor and the personal story in the landscape
  • Creativity and projective methods outdoors

These workshops will be of interest to anyone who works or hopes to work with people one-to-one outdoors including counsellors, support workers and those engaged in other mental health contexts. There will be another session in the spring specifically for counsellors and psychotherapists called 'Walk and Talk Therapy' – although counsellors/psychotherapists will likely find these first workshops to be helpful, too.

The sessions will take place on Thursdays 26th September and 3rd October from 1-4pm (UK timezone).

CPD Event: This event counts as Continuing Professional Development for counsellors, therapists and others in helping professions. We are happy to issue CPD certificates once you have attended the workshop. Simply message us through Eventbrite after the workshop/series is over and we will email your certificate.

Although this event is part of the Ten Directions training course for ecotherapy practitioners, anybody can book and take part in this public online event! If you are interested, please do buy a ticket.

Please note that at Tariki Trust, we generally do not record our online events. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds to people who do not show up assuming that they will get a recording.
