About the day:
This training event will be an opportunity to develop coaching and communication skills relevant to working one to one with clients in the context of separation and divorce. This may be during an extended intake or pre-mediation meeting, in a separate caucus session or because only one parent is willing to engage with the process of collaboration. A selection of coaching tools and models will be introduced and case studies will be used to apply the learning.
Joyce Cunningham is an experienced counsellor, facilitator and coach. She has been designing and developing coaching, counselling and training services for individuals and organisations since 2000. People come to Joyce when they are emotional, struggling with change, recovering from trauma, looking to increase confidence and need a confidential space to reflect, recover and set goals for their future. Organisations engage Joyce for support with motivating teams, developing delegation techniques, delivering effective meetings, team building sessions and bespoke training. Joyce’s expertise is in personal and organisational change. Joyce has an understanding of family mediation and the Relationships Scotland network from her involvement with the Scottish Collaborative Family Law Group, Consensus.
By the end of the day participants will:
• be able to identify what coaching is and is not
• recognise and be able to implement a selection of coaching tools and
a coaching model
• have greater knowledge about and skills for communicating in a 1:1
setting in the context of separation and divorce
• have increased understanding about how to give effective feedback,
both positive and negative
